So many students and families approach the college admissions process with a feeling of dread, anxiety, and uncertainty. It doesn't have to be this way! It is my goal to demystify the college admissions process while also alleviating the enormous stress that families feel. Afterall, this journey should be one of self-discovery, collaboration, and self-empowerment. And, get this: it can be fun, too!
I am an educator who strives to empower students to take ownership of their college search and application process while, at the same time, providing guidance, expertise, and compassion. The college admissions journey is most successful when it is student-centered and focused on best fit. Students are encouraged early on to take ownership of this process, while I provide them with the tools to feel in control of their own journey.
McKenna Educational Consulting is a boutique admissions consulting company focused on providing individualized admissions support to a capped group of students each year. Limiting the amount of clients that I work with ensures I can provide the most attentive support to each student and family.

This is by far the most important aspect of the college admissions process, and one that I care about immensely. I help my students to look past rankings, hype around sports teams, and the overall marketing machine that is college admissions.
Students will be most successful at a school that is the best fit for them academically, socially, and financially. What is a good fit for one student may not be for someone else. Therefore, there are no "good schools". I work hard to help students identify schools that align with their values and goals, and that will ultimately provide them with an environment where they can be successful.
This is a highly individualized process, and truly what makes it exciting as a college counselor. Supporting students through this journey and guiding them as they identify their "best fit" schools is an incredibly rewarding experience.
